Best Chalets + Things to Do in the Adirondack Mountains
No matter the time of year, a chalet getaway is always a good idea! Moreover, there’s no better destination than the Adirondack mountains! The Adirondacks is a magical region of New York with over 2000 miles of hiking trails, offering incredible 360 summit views, endless lakes and rivers, and charming small towns. My favourite things to do in this region
I’ve stayed in this region during all four seasons, and each one has its own perks. Moreover, I can guarantee you that every visit will be so special! Making the drive to Lake Placid is a no-brainer, with the stunning lake, endless food options, and cozy cafes. Furthermore, there are numerous nature tourist attractions located within minutes from all of these Airbnbs! So, check out the list below for some inspiration for your next vacation to the Adirondacks.
Nearby Grocery Stores:
The Little Supermarket is a gas station/grocery store combo. Additionally, you will find most of the staples here, but they lack fruits/veggies + meat. So, make sure you come equipped to avoid having to drive into Lake Placid late at night because you forgot certain ingredients for dinner.
Where to eat in Lake Placid:
- Firstly, Smoke Signals is one of my go-to restaurants, with a lake view patio, beer on tap, and live music. Additionally, they serve classic barbecue favourites which are always so delicious- especially after a long hike! However, this choice is more of a treat as it is not the cheapest option in town.
- Moving on, Generations Tap and Grill is another go-to restaurant on Lake Place. With it’s lodge feel, in the winter time, it feels so cozy with the fireplaces roaring!
- Lastly, located just outside of downtown Lake Placid, Big Slide Brewery is a local favourite, and the best place to grab a cold one after a long day adventuring in the Adirondack mountains.

Best Hike
